Questions about a
truffle ceremony.
Honest answers to the most common questions about safety, legality, costs and what to expect. Question not listed? Mail us at info@magischetruffelceremonie.nl.
Safety &
suitability
The most important questions about legal status, safety and who can — and cannot — participate.
Is a truffle ceremony legal in the Netherlands?
Yes. Magic truffles (sclerotia) fall outside the Dutch Opium Act and are legal to purchase and use. They are not the same as dried magic mushrooms (paddos), which are prohibited. The active substance psilocybin is present in both, but the legal status differs: fresh, unprocessed truffles are legal. We only work with legal truffles.
Is it safe?
Psilocybin is not physically addictive and is considered physiologically safe for people without contraindications. Safety depends strongly on screening, setting, dosage and guidance — which is exactly what we focus on. We always begin with a thorough intake conversation. Participation without intake is not possible.
Who is and isn't suitable?
Not suitable for: people using SSRIs, MAO inhibitors or lithium; personal or family history of psychosis, schizophrenia or bipolar disorder; serious cardiovascular conditions; pregnancy or breastfeeding; significant life instability at the time of participation.
Suitable for: mentally stable people with a clear intention and willingness to engage in honest self-reflection. No prior experience with psychedelics is required. In doubt? The intake will determine it together.
How is the dosage determined?
Based on your body weight, experience with psychedelics, intention, health and what you share during the intake. We always start conservatively — a dose that is too small is always easier to adjust than one that is too large. The dosage can be adjusted on the day itself.
Is this therapy or medical treatment?
No. A truffle ceremony is not a medical or psychological treatment and does not replace professional care. It is a guided consciousness experience with intake and integration. For medical questions, always consult a qualified professional.
Practical &
costs
Transparent information about pricing, the different ceremony formats and how to get to the location.
What does a truffle ceremony cost?
We are fully transparent about pricing:
- Group ceremony — €299 per person (max. 4 participants, 9 hours)
- Duo / couple — €945 per person (2 persons, 9 hours)
- Private ceremony — €1.795 (1 person, full day)
All ceremonies include the intake conversation, guidance on the day, integration session and aftercare. No hidden costs.
What is the difference between group, duo and private?
A group ceremony takes place with a maximum of 4 carefully selected participants. The group energy can be supportive and connecting.
A duo ceremony takes place with one other person of your choice — a partner, friend or family member. You share the day but have your own individual experience.
A private ceremony is fully tailored to you: complete attention, your own pace, your own intention. Maximum privacy and personal guidance.
How long does the ceremony take?
The ceremony runs from 13:00 to 22:00 — 9 hours in total. The effects of the truffles typically last 4 to 6 hours. The remaining time is for arrival, preparation, guided closure and grounding. Plan the evening and the next day as quietly as possible.
How do I get there from Amsterdam or Schiphol?
The location is in Hoofddorp, directly accessible from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport by train in approximately 10 minutes. From Amsterdam Centraal, the journey is about 15 minutes. The exact address is shared after your intake is confirmed.
Do I need experience with psychedelics?
No. Experience is not required and gives no advantage. Honesty during the intake, an open attitude and willingness to self-reflect are far more important. We regularly guide people who are experiencing psilocybin for the first time.
The
ceremony
From preparation to what you can expect during the day — and how we handle challenging moments.
How do I prepare?
You will receive a full preparation guide after the intake. The essentials:
- Food — eat light. No meat, dairy or heavy meals the day before and morning of the ceremony
- Alcohol — avoid for at least 3 days beforehand
- Cannabis — avoid for at least 1 week beforehand
- Sleep — ensure a good night’s rest before the ceremony
- Intention — write down what you are looking for or want to let go of
What will I feel or experience?
This varies greatly between people. Common experiences: intensely colourful or symbolic imagery, deep emotions arising, a sense of connection or release, clear insights about yourself, relationships or work. Sometimes also intense or challenging moments. You have nothing to perform — the guide is always there as a calm anchor.
Can I have a “bad trip” and how do you handle that?
Challenging moments are part of the experience — not necessarily something negative. They often bring the deepest insights. Tamara is present throughout the full day and has extensive experience in supporting participants during intense moments. Good preparation, a safe setting and a tailored dosage minimise unnecessary discomfort.
How does privacy work?
Fully guaranteed. We work with groups of maximum 4 participants, carefully selected. There is no social media presence around ceremonies. The exact location address is shared only after a confirmed intake. Your name and details are never shared with third parties or other participants.
After the
ceremony
What happens after — integration, practical matters and when you will notice effects in daily life.
What is integration and is it included?
Integration is the process of translating what you experienced during the ceremony into your daily life. A few weeks after the ceremony, we schedule an integration session — a conversation about what you went through and how to make insights practical: choices, boundaries, direction, relationships. This session is included with all ceremonies at no extra cost.
Can I drive or work afterwards?
No. Driving after the ceremony is strongly discouraged — arrange transport in advance (someone picking you up, taxi or public transport). Work or demanding commitments on the evening of the ceremony are not realistic. Ideally, keep the next day clear or light as well.
When will I notice effects in daily life?
This varies. Some people notice a difference immediately — more calm, clarity or lightness. Others experience the real shift in the weeks or months that follow. Integration helps consolidate insights and make them practical. There is no guaranteed timeline; it depends on your intention, openness and what the ceremony brought up.
Is the ceremony guided in English?
Yes. The intake conversation, the ceremony itself and the integration session can all be conducted in English. Our guide Tamara is fluent in English and regularly works with international participants.
