Medication and a truffle ceremony: what you need to know

This might be the single most important question we ask during an intake, and the most important one to ask yourself beforehand: are you taking medication, and if so, which?

Why this matters so much

Certain medications, particularly some antidepressants (such as SSRIs and MAOIs), can affect how psilocybin works: sometimes weakening the effect, sometimes changing the risk profile. This isn’t a minor detail. It’s exactly why we always ask about it, and why we don’t give medical advice about it ourselves.

What we do and don’t do

We are not doctors, and we do not adjust your medication schedule. What we do: during the intake we ask in detail about what you’re taking, and depending on the situation, we advise you to discuss this with your GP or treating specialist before booking a ceremony. Sometimes that means waiting. Sometimes it means a ceremony isn’t wise right now.

Stopping is not a solution we recommend

Never stop prescribed medication on your own initiative to make a ceremony possible. That decision belongs to you and your doctor, not to us, and certainly not simply to enable an experience.

Be open during the intake

We don’t ask this out of curiosity. We ask because your safety comes first. The more honest and complete you are during our screening, the better we can assess whether, and when, a ceremony is appropriate.

Consider an intake conversation.

A psilocybin truffle ceremony is not for everyone. But if you've made it here, it may be worth exploring.
