A question almost everyone asks before a ceremony: what should I eat beforehand, and do I need to fast?
Why food matters at all
A full stomach can make nausea worse once the truffles start working, that’s the main practical issue. Too little food, on the other hand, can leave you weak or lightheaded before the ceremony has even properly started. So it’s not about extreme fasting, it’s about a light, balanced stomach.
What I usually advise
Eat your last full meal roughly three to four hours before the ceremony, and keep it light: some fruit, a simple salad, wholegrain toast. Avoid heavy, fatty or very sugary meals right beforehand. On the morning itself, a light breakfast is usually fine, unless we’ve agreed otherwise during the intake.
What about alcohol or caffeine?
It’s best to avoid alcohol the evening and morning before: it disrupts both your physical and mental state. Caffeine in the morning can increase restlessness for some people, so consider going easy on it or skipping it.
Afterward
After the ceremony your body is usually ready for food again, but ease into it: something light first, before moving on to a full meal. Just like with the ceremony itself, listen to what your body needs in the moment, and feel free to ask during the intake if you’re unsure about your specific situation.
Consider an intake conversation.
A psilocybin truffle ceremony is not for everyone. But if you've made it here, it may be worth exploring.
